Ways Retaining Wall Can be Integrated into Pool Designs

Sometimes creating a flat and level surface is the hardest part about building a swimming pool. For an expert pool builder, however, it is a challenge that can be overcome with grading and retaining wall. If retaining wall is the answer, that is not bad since it has become an important part of pool designs throughout Atlanta, Georgia, and beyond.

Things to Know about Retaining Walls

There are several things to know about integrating retaining wall. The first is that some municipalities have a limit on how high the wall can be before an engineer’s seal or another item may be needed with the permit application.

Shorter walls also help make spaces feel more open. If having an open space is important to you, the shorter wall may be exactly what you need. This helps such walls mesh well with different pool designs. Other things to know:

  • The walls should be a part of the outdoor living space – Turn the retaining wall into a seat wall around the pool. This will give everyone different places to sit.
  • Make a waterfall – If there is a height difference from one area of the yard to another, you can have a waterfall created using the wall. The waterfall gives the wall a more organic feel.
  • Don’t make it dull – You don’t have to have a dull wall. Of course, an experienced pool designer is going to make sure your wall is fantastic.
  • The wall should feel organic – When the wall “fits in,” it feels more natural. It blends in with its surroundings.
