How Hot Will Your Swimming Pool Patio Get?
When the heat cranks up, so can the temperature of your swimming pool patio. However, it depends on the material that your patio is made out of. Not every patio material gets so hot that your feet burn upon contact. In fact, it is very important for the patio to remain cool in order to avoid very painful and dangerous burns to the feet or any exposed part of the body that may come into contact with the materials.

While material can have an impact on the temperature of the patio, high temperatures can mainly be due to the color. This means if you are planning on installing a pool in an area that receives direct sunlight, you want to keep the color in mind. Lighter colors aren’t going to become as hot as darker colors that have no reflectivity properties.
If you prefer darker colors, then you can discuss the different types of materials with your pool builder. Darker colors are normally more suited in shaded areas. If you wish, you can have a mixture of dark and light throughout the patio area. There are different ways to make the patio look great and control the temperature.
There are different patio styles that you can choose from. For instance, you can choose textured concrete. The texture also adds traction to the patio so that wet feet don’t slip. Broomed finish concrete is another type and it is considered the most popular because it looks great and it’s durable. Stamped concrete is also popular in that the stamping patterns can mimic the looks of other patio materials. There are many pattern and color options. The main disadvantage to stamped concrete is that it needs to be re-sealed every 2 to 3 years. You can talk to your pool builder about the temperatures of the materials and styles. There are ways to keep it cool.
